General settings include limiting scans to USB scanning ("Quick mode"), access to scans from the Windows context menus inside of Windows Explorer, advanced features available in the Pro version and switching between Indonesian and English language. Scanner settings include changing SmadAV's color scheme and a list of quarantined files SmadAV has de-activated.

Though the Pro version includes a number of features such as automatic updates, support for destroying ransomware and live protection, the free version of SmadAV does an admirable job of eliminating certain types of common viruses.

All in all, SmadAV can be used as a second defense against viruses and malware but isn't exactly complete enough to provide full protection.
